The Punjab agriculture department took a significant step to address the hoarding and black marketing of fertilisers in the state, making sure that adequate fertiliser will be available to all the farmers. Chief Agriculture Officer Balwinder Singh chaired a meeting with all fertiliser dealers of the district to ensure that there would be no fertiliser shortage to farmers during the Rabi season 2025-26 and to curb any possibility of black marketing.
Agriculture officer instructed fertiliser dealers for a transparent process
Furthermore, the Chief Agriculture Officer instructed all wholesale fertiliser dealers to ensure a timely, transparent and uniform supply of fertilisers received from companies to every retail dealer in the district. He directed them to strictly avoid tagging or forcing any unnecessary products, as well as fertilisers.
Agriculture Officer cautioned for hoarding and black marketing
He cautioned that no hoarding or black marketing of urea will be spared under any circumstances. Moreover, strict legal action will be taken against any fertiliser dealer found to be involved in such practices or negligence. The Agro officer further urged them to collect a purchase bill while purchasing fertilisers. Furthermore, he suggested that if any dealer forces farmers to purchase unnecessary items with fertilisers or charges above the rates, they should immediately complain to the agriculture department.
