Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal met Israel’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Avi Dichter to boost cooperation in agriculture, along with leveraging Israel’s expertise in precision farming, drip irrigation, desert agriculture and sustainable agricultural practices
While sharing titbits of the meeting, Goyal stated: “Glad to meet with Mr. @AviDichter, Israel’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security. Discussed ways to further strengthen our strong cooperation in agriculture, leveraging Israel’s expertise in precision farming, drip irrigation, desert agriculture, and sustainable agricultural practices”.
What’s beside talks on precision farming, drip irrigation, and desert agriculture
Apart the meeting which emphasised precision farming, drip irrigation, desert agriculture and sustainable agricultural practices. Goyal cited that India and Israel will strengthen their collaboration in Technology and innovation. He also mentioned that both nations will look for new areas of cooperation, including what could be a startup bridge between Israel and India, followed by the signing of Terms of Reference (ToR). Not only this, he also said: On November 20, India and Israel formally signed the ToR to begin negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
Goyal believes in collaboration for promoting the startup ecosystem
Commerce Minister Goyal sees massive room for collaboration to enhance its own ecosystem. He said: ‘I believe we can collaborate with Israel to promote our own startup ecosystem, aspiring to take it to the levels of deep tech and high-quality innovation at competitive prices, given the economies of scale that India has to offer. We are looking at a deep partnership with Israel”. Moreover, he outlined several sectors where collaboration could progress, such as Cybersecurity, mobility, climate change, green steel, and med-tech, parallel to the discussions centered on precision farming, drip irrigation, desert agriculture, andsustainable agricultural practices.
