Chhattisgarh rolled out paddy procurement season with expanded digital oversight

On Saturday, November 15, Chhattisgarh opened its annual paddy procurement season with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai focusing that transparency, efficiency, and timely payments will guide operations in all districts under a significantly strong digital and administrative framework.    

Paddy procurement centres are fully equipped with essential facilities

While issuing detailed directions to district authorities, the government has ensured that paddy procurement centres function without disruption and that farmers face no inconvenience during the season. The state government has stated that the paddy procurement centres have been fully equipped with essential facilities whereas departments are directed to maintain strict adherence to time limits for purchasing, weighing, transportation and payment processing. As per officials, the administration is approaching this year’s procurement exercise as a test case for a more accountable and technology-driven system. Moreover, the govt. has employed a suite of digital tools, such as the Tuhar token app, GPS-based tracking of paddy transportation, the Satark application for real-time reporting, and a centralized command and control system. Officials mentioned that the integrated platform will help to make sure that proper queue management, prevent overcrowding, curb irregularities, and boost digital oversight from the procurement point to storage.

Chief Minister Sai called the launch of the season an appreciation of the contribution of farmers, calling them the backbone of Chhattisgarh’s rural economy. He highlighted that the reforms introduced this year reflect the state’s commitment to fair procurement and hassle-free payments.
Apparently, an atmosphere of anticipation was reported as paddy procurement commenced. Officials  mentioned that a combination of expanded infrastructure, clearer protocols, and enhanced digital tools is expected to make the process easier that in earlier years. The state government has mentioned that the upcoming weeks are significant in demonstrating the effect of the policy measures launched this year. Senior officials have been instructed to remain in the field and conduct regular reviews to ensure that operations remain transparent and fully compliant with norms.
