The Sindh Government has urged the federal government to fix rice price like it did on wheat rate. Further, the government has also decided to provide all agricultural subsidies to rice farmers and through Benazir Hari Card in the upcoming future. In this context, the agriculture minister of Sindh Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar said that the Sindh government is aware of the problems faced by the rice farmers, and it is the authority of the federal government to fix the rice support price. The agriculture minister urged the federal government to announce the fixing of the rice support price as soon as possible. Developing a price mechanism will be a great boost for rice farmers as they will ger fair compensation for their hard work the minister further added.
District level committees have been established to address the complaints of rice farmers and to keep in touch with them. He said Assistant Commissioners and secretaries of Market Committees will be the heads of the committees. The committee will take stringent action against the middlemen and submit a weekly report to the office of the Agriculture Secretary further said Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar. He said the Sindh government is trying to provide subsidies to rice farmers like wheat farmers so that they can reduce rice production costs and get better profits.
