Indian Railways Escalates Export Efforts To Establish Global Presence

Maintaining progress in the infrastructural development in the country, the Indian Railways has escalated export efforts to establish a global presence by emerging as an exporter of significant railway equipment to various nations.
The export of equipment such as coaches, bogies, locomotives, and propulsion systems under Make in India, along with a Make for the World standard and vision.

What did the senior official state about the Indian Railway’s export efforts?

A senior official from the Ministry of Railways stated that Indian Railways’ growing export potential is a reflection of India’s advancement and commitment to innovation and delivery. Furthermore, he added that India’s railway products are increasingly making their way to international markets, including metro coaches, which have already been exported to Australia and Canada.

According to railway sources, export efforts have been made as India-manufactured train bogies are being exported to the UK, Saudi Arabia, France, and Australia. Besides this, propulsion systems, now produced in India, are being sent to countries like France, Mexico, Romania, Spain, Germany, and Italy.

Particularly, the export of passenger coaches, manufactured domestically under India Railway’s drive to generate railway equipment by utilizing domestic technology, is currently being exported to Mozambique, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

The global presence has been marked through Made-in-India locomotives have also been exported in recent times to Mozambique, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and the Republic of Guinea.
