The union government in its latest move has released the 21st installment of PM Kisan scheme in 3 flood affected states. Prioritising farmers in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand who were recently affected by floods, landslides, and crop losses Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan released the installment before time. More than Rs 540 crore were transferred into the bank accounts of over 27 lakh farmers via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme.
21st Installment of PM Kisan Scheme Released via Video Conferencing
Farmers across the nation received a big relief as the union government decided to release the 21st installment of PM Kisan Scheme as advance for farmers who suffered huge losses due to floods and landslides in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand. Notably, the 20th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi was released on 2nd August, and the 21st installment scheduled to be released in October.
The funds were transferred via DBT through video conferencing which were attended by state agriculture ministers, MPS, MLAs, and farmer representatives from the flood affected regions. Addressing the farmers via video conferencing the Union agriculture Minister said that the ₹2,000 instalment would help meet immediate household needs, purchase seeds and fertilizers, and restore confidence to resume cultivation. Notably, government schemes like Ladli Behna Yojna, Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana are some of the major initiatives that assist farmers and entrepreneurs on a large scale. Recently, the Prime Minister also visited the flood-affected areas and announced additional relief packages totalling ₹4,300 crore for Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, including ex-gratia support for families of the deceased and injured, along with assistance under the PM CARES for Children scheme.
