PM Modi Announces Rs. 1,600 Crore Aid Amid Punjab Flooding

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a financial aid of Rs. 1,600 crores amid Punjab flooding as he reviewed the situation and damage in the state. Currently, Flood in Punjab is at its worst state of damage, affecting nearly four lakh people in 2,000 villages. Punjab is battling its worst natural disaster since 1988. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced additional assistance for the state, in addition to the Rs. 12,000 crores already allocated to the state. Further, reviewing the condition in state, he also announced an ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakhs to the family of the victims apart from Rs. 50,000 to the seriously injured in the floods and natural calamity.

PM Modi Assured Full Support to the victims Amid Punjab Flooding

The prime minister acknowledged the intensity of the situation and the losses caused due to the flood in Punjab. Following this, he assured people that the state and the central government will make all efforts to address the situation. He also conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Punjab.

Modi shared the information of his aerial survey on the social media site X (formerly Twitter), “Conducted an aerial review of the floods in Punjab. Authorities are working round-the-clock, assisting those impacted. Our thoughts are with the people in this challenging time.”

PM visited Punjab and Himachal Pradesh as well to Review the Flood Situation

Apart from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh is also facing the natural disaster, where over 366 people have died due to the flood. PM visited Himachal Pradesh to review the situation and took stock of the flood and landslides situation in the state. He also headed an official meeting in Gurdaspur with officials and elected representatives in the district to review the situation.
