APEDA Regional Office To Open In Chhattisgarh’s Raipur, To Accelerate Agri-Exports

On Wednesday, July 30, the Chhattisgarh government said that the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry has sanctioned the establishment of the APEDA regional office in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur. Furthermore, acknowledging the development, the Government stated that a wide range of export-related services will be available for farmers and producers under the roof of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
As per the government’s statement, the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry has given its approval to open the regional office of APEDA in Raipur due to the result of the efforts of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the active initiative of the Industry Department.

 About APEDA

The APEDA is a statutory body of the Central government assigned with the development of industries associated with scheduled products for export by way of providing financial assistance or otherwise for undertaking surveys and feasibility studies. In addition, Chief Minister Sai stated that the APEDA office in Raipur would emerge as a powerful medium to fill the gap between agri producers of Chhattisgarh and the global market.

The Chief Minister, Sai, added that this is a decisive step in enhancing agri exports and driving the economic prosperity of Chhattisgarh. This achievement will transform us into a leading state in the Vocal for Local to Global campaign and open new doors for the export of our rich and diverse agricultural products.

Particularly, the state government cited that farmers will not have to rely on the other states’ offices for training, certification, packaging, standardisation, or export-related procedures. The APEDA office in Raipur will smooth procedures like phyto-sanitary certification, quality certification, lab testing, and export documentation, saving time and decreasing costs for stakeholders.
The upcoming office will facilitate direct exports of fruits, vegetables, rice, GI-tagged products, millet, and several other agricultural outputs to international markets, ensuring better prices for producers and new market access for traders. Not only this, farmers will also get training and learn information related to modern techniques, quality control, advanced packaging, and global marketing at the local level.
