11th International Yoga Day marked the importance of yoga’s integration in our daily life- Yoga Day is not just an annual observance, but a part of lifestyle essential for mental balance, healthy and quality living, and responsible management of earth’s resources. The 11th edition of International Yoga Day witnessed heartfelt participation of people from across the globe. The theme for the year 2025 is “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” which reminds us of that wellness in not personal-it is planetary.
Celebrating the decadal edition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the main event in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, which was later joined by more than 3 lakh people who gathered on RK Beach. India a nation popular for demonstrating unity in diversity, experienced people from all walks of life on RK Beach.
PM Modi addressed the participants and reflected on the Journey of Yoga Day which was first celebrated in 2015. PM Modi highlighted the importance of Yoga and said that year 2025 is a new chapter titled “Yoga for Humanity 2.0.” He was visibly satisfied with the progress of yoga practices and said that Yoga is no more a personal choice and an Indian tradition, rather it is a global movement and celebrated beyond boundaries. “Let this be the beginning of a world where inner peace becomes the foundation of global policy-making,” he declared.
In India alone, over 20 million people took part in yoga events at more than 100,000 locations, including schools, government offices, community centers, and defense outposts. The Ministry of Ayush reported more than 10 lakh activities conducted under the “Yoga Sangam” initiative. From the Siachen Glacier, where soldiers performed yoga in sub-zero temperatures, to naval personnel on decked ships, every arm of the nation stood in meditative solidarity.
Yoga Day 2025 was not just celebrated within boundaries but also beyond boundaries. In Malaysia, yoga was practiced at the iconic Batu Caves. In Canada, events unfolded in major cities like Toronto and Vancouver, while in the United States, thousands gathered in Central Park, New York.
Andhra Pradesh, India led from the front and launched a month-long statewide campaign titled “YogAndhra 2025.” Over 5,000 master trainers and 1.44 lakh instructors were deployed, while universities and civic bodies engaged more than 20,000 officials to manage logistics.
