Telangana’s Long Term Ties In Asia, Africa For Rice Exports

Telangana seeks long-term supply partnerships across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East to strengthen its presence in premium international markets. Notably, the move comes after successful rice exports of 30,000 tonnes to the Philippines in 2025. While attending the International World Rice Conference (IWRC) 2026 in Manila, Philippines, M Stephen Raveendra, Commissioner of Civil Supplies, highlighted Telangana’s emergence as a major rice-producing state and invited international buyers and trade partners to explore supply agreements. The Civil Supplies department stated that it was working to change the state from a bulk commodity supplier into a branded, reliable and globally competitive rice exporter. Moreover, the state aims to transform its significant rice surplus into greater economic value, boost its position in premium international markets, and ensure that domestic food-security requirements remain protection. In addition, the department asserted that the state remained committed to forging international partnerships that develop lasting economic value and establish Telangana as a trustworthy global rice supplier.
Odisha Faces Price Hike Of Essential Commodities Including Rice

Odisha consumers are witnessing a new crisis of price hikes in essential commodities such as sugar, pulses, rice, and milk, which are becoming expensive before the festive season. Notably, sugar prices have increased by Rs300–Rs500 per quintal, rising from nearly Rs5,000 to Rs5,300–Rs5,500. Moreover, retail prices of sugar have reached Rs60 per kilogram.
Not only this, but toor dal prices have also increased by Rs500–Rs700 per quintal and crossed Rs14,000 in some markets. Shockingly, retail prices now range between Rs142 and Rs150 per kilogram. In addition to this, Chana dal prices have also surged by Rs600–Rs700 per quintal. It is extremely important to note that rice prices have risen as well, and fine rice has become costlier by Rs800–Rs1,000 per quintal, whereas super-fine rice prices have risen by Rs1,000–Rs1,500. Surprisingly, Basmati rice is now selling at Rs170 per kilogram. Ompfed milk prices have also gone up by Rs2–Rs4 per litre.
