Telangana Seeks For Higher Rice Procurement Target Amid Record Paddy Output

Recently, the Telangana government has appealed to the Centre to increase its rice procurement target for the Rabi 2025–26 season, mentioning that the record paddy production and procurement levels in the state. In this course, State ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Thummala Nageswara Rao met Union Food Minister Pralhad Joshi and requested that the approved procurement target be revised upward from 35 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) to 54.5 LMT.

According to the state government, Telangana has already recorded paddy procurement of 80.09 LMT, which has surpassed the expectations due to favourable weather conditions, enhanced cultivation practices, and strong farmer participation.
