IREF's Anna Kshetra Brings Relief To Kandla Port Workers

In a meaningful gesture of care and social responsibility, the Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF), in collaboration with Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), organized a week-long welfare initiative titled Anna Kshetra – Nurturing Our Community” at Deendayal Port, Kandla, from 23 May to 30 May.

The initiative was launched to support the hardworking port workers who continue their duties under extreme summer conditions to ensure smooth cargo and logistics operations. Throughout the week, refreshments including buttermilk, lassi, and cold drinks, along with nutritious meals, were distributed to workers across the port premises.

The campaign was inaugurated by Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairman, DPA Kandla, and witnessed the support of various dignitaries, stakeholders, and members of the export community.


Day 1 – 23 May 2026

Inauguration of Anna Kshetra Initiative

The week-long Anna Kshetra campaign commenced with the inauguration of the welfare initiative at Deendayal Port, Kandla. Large containers of chilled buttermilk were distributed among port workers working under extreme summer temperatures. Alongside beverages such as buttermilk, lassi, and cold drinks, nutritious meals were also made available to workers. The launch event highlighted the commitment of IREF and DPA towards worker welfare, ensuring hydration, nourishment, and comfort for the workforce that keeps port operations running smoothly.


Day 2 – 24 May 2026

Continuing Relief for Port Workers

The second day of the campaign witnessed the continued distribution of cooling beverages and meals to workers across various operational zones of the port. Buttermilk, lassi, and cold drinks were served throughout the day to help workers cope with the intense heat, while lunch and dinner arrangements ensured they received proper nourishment. The initiative continued to receive positive responses from workers, who appreciated the support and care being extended during the challenging summer season.


Day 3 – 25 May 2026

Food Distribution Drive Strengthens Community Support

The focus of the third day was on an extensive food distribution programme for workers engaged in cargo handling, logistics, and other port activities. Freshly prepared meals were distributed during lunch and dinner hours, while beverages including buttermilk, lassi, and cold drinks continued to be served throughout the day. The initiative reinforced the message that worker well-being remains a shared responsibility and an essential component of efficient port operations.


Day 4 – 26 May 2026

Refreshments and Snacks for the Workforce

On the fourth day, workers were served refreshments along with snacks, including samosas, adding a special touch to the welfare campaign. Lunch and dinner were provided to labourers and operational staff, while buttermilk, lassi, and cold drinks offered relief from the summer heat. Successful Conclusion of a Week of Service

The final days of the Anna Kshetra campaign marked the successful completion of a week dedicated to worker welfare and community support. Food distribution activities continued with lunch and dinner being served to workers, while beverages remained available across the port premises. The campaign concluded on a positive note, reflecting the spirit of service, gratitude, and solidarity shared by IREF, DPA, and all stakeholders involved in supporting the hardworking port community


Eventually, the week-long Anna Kshetra campaign successfully demonstrated the spirit of service, cooperation, and social responsibility. Through the distribution of buttermilk, lassi, cold drinks, snacks, lunch, and dinner, the initiative offered meaningful support to hundreds of workers at Deendayal Port during one of the hottest periods of the year.
