From Bilateral Engagement to Global Rice Trade: Dr. Prem Garg Invites Xu Feihong to BIRC 2026

In a recent move towards the development of global rice sector, Xu Feihong, Chinese Ambassador to India, has been invited to participate in the Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2026 by Dr. Prem Garg, Former President of the Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF).

Notably, the Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2026 is scheduled to be held from 23–25 October 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The conference will bring together rice exporters, importers, policymakers, farmers, researchers, technology providers, logistics companies, financial institutions and other stakeholders in the global rice ecosystem. Discussions are expected to focus on rice trade, food security, sustainability, technology, innovation, farmer participation and emerging opportunities across the rice value chain.

The invitation was extended during the 77th National Day event of the People’s Republic of China, held at the Taj Palace in New Delhi, where Ambassador Xu Feihong and Dr. Prem Garg were present. Dr. Prem Garg’s invitation to Ambassador Xu Feihong highlights the potential for greater engagement between diplomatic representatives and stakeholders from India’s rice industry.
