Central government on Wednesday approved PM Dhan-Dhanya Agriculture Scheme for a period of six years. This scheme is a major boost for the Indian agriculture sector with a target to benefit 1.7 crore farmers under the scheme. Pradhan Mantri Dhan- Dhanya Krishi Yojana was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the budget session on 1st February 2025.
PM Dhan-Dhanya Agriculture Scheme for Six Years
PM Dhan-Dhanya Agriculture Scheme has been approved for six years and will start from 2025-26 and will cover 100 districts with an annual budget of Rs 24,000 crore. The scheme will cover 100 districts with low productivity and low sowing of crops. The scheme will also cover districts with below average loan availability. It will target at least one district from every state/union territory.
1.7 crore farmers will Benefit from the Scheme
The scheme is set to benefit 1.7 crore farmers. The scheme will integrate 36 existing schemes and promote crop diversification and adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.
