The Uttar Pradesh Govt. led by Yogi Adityanath has started purchasing maize direct from farmers for the first time at Minimum Support Price (MSP). The govt. started the purchase from June 15 and will continue till July 31. Purchases of corn will be made only at the purchase centres from 9am to 6pm.

It is worth to note that purchases will be made in Budaun, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Firozabad, Hathras, Mainpuri, Hardoi, Unnao, Kanpur, Auraiya, Kannauj, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Bahraich, Ballia, Gonda, Sambhal, Rampur, Ayodhya and Mirzapur districts of UP.
Govt. will purchase maize at Rs 2,225 per quintal for the marketing year of 2024-25. Maize farmers (corn) need to register themselves at fcs.up.gov.in or mobile app UP Kisan Mitra. Only registered farmers can sell their maize. Additionally, the bank account numbers of farmers should also be linked to Aadhar card as govt. will transfer amount directly in the bank account of the farmers. Govt. has set the target to increase the maize production in UP to 27.30 lakh metric tonnes by the year 2027.
