A government official stated on Thursday, October 16, that World Bank President Banga applauded Uttar Pradesh’s resilient agriculture model for small farmers that has become a global benchmark for sustainable farming and climate adaptation.

Furthermore, President Banga lauded the initiatives led by Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government to unite climate-tolerant seeds, soil-specific fertilisers, regenerative farming methods, efficient irrigation systems, and robust crop insurance frameworks.

In the event, Banga said: “What I saw in Uttar Pradesh is not theory, but a working reality”. He highlighted the significant role of digital technology as the glue binding the entire system, adding that a simple AI tool or mobile phone can diagnose crop disease, recommend fertilizers, give early weather alerts and allow secure payments. Such data builds farmers’ credit history, ensuring cheaper loans and stronger financial inclusion, creating a virtuous loop of trust and investment. Apart from this, he underscored the association between the World Bank and Uttar Pradesh govt. and cited that the launch of the UP AGRISE project, designed to technologically and financially boost the state’s agricultural system. The initiative intends to directly benefit nearly one million small and marginal farmers by offering real time access to information on weather, seeds, markets and insurance via digital agriculture ecosystem.
