Now, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is taking steps to ensure that only superior-quality rice that should be used in the preparation of Anna Prasadam (sanctified food) distributed to devotees visiting Tirumala. In a recent move, TTD’s additional executive officer, Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, appealed to the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana rice millers to supply high-quality rice during a meeting held at the Padmavathi rest house auditorium in Tirumala on Thursday, November 13.

Currently, Rice millers are supplying rice in the 60:40 ratio for Anna Prasadam

He highlighted the steps to be taken, making sure that rice supplied to the TTD fulfills the prescribed standards under the supervision of the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Rice Millers Association. The additional EO directed the Anna Prasadam department officials to conduct relentless checks and examine the quality of rice before and after cooking. Chowdary stated that Rice millers need to submit a monthly schedule for rice supply to TTD officials. This will allow the authorities to make planned arrangements on the basis of the needs of devotees. TTD needs around 20,000 kg (20 tonnes) of rice daily for the Anna Prasadam preparation in Tirumala, Tiruchanur, and other local temples.

Chowdary added that a monthly Anna Prasadam quality survey would be conducted by Srivari Sevakulu, and necessary measures will be taken to further enhance the quality of the rice quality on the feedback of devotees. Furthermore, the meeting with rice millers, representatives from Gubba Cold Storage Infra, gave a presentation on developing TTD’s cold storage facility.
