The Indian Rice Exporters’ Federation (IREF) has appealed to the Indian government to declare tax incentives, interest support, and freight subsidies for rice exporters in Union Budget 2026. Main demands include a 4% interest subvention on export credit, 3% freight reimbursement, and faster RoDTEP (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products) refunds to decrease costs and strengthen sustainability. According to the Cambodia Rice Federation, Cambodia’s rice exports surpassed 940,321 tonnes in 2025, a 45% year-on-year increase, generating $602 million in revenue. Significant markets included the European Union, China, and ASEAN countries, with fragrant rice accounting for 64% of total exports. The global profile of Cambodian rice was further boosted after Malys Angkor (Phka Rumduol) won the World’s Best Rice 2025 award for the seventh time. In addition, Cambodia earned $1.579 billion from exporting 6.85 million tonnes of paddy rice through border trade, reflecting strong growth and rising international demand.
New Contract Farming Deals To Strengthen Rice Production in Cambodia

Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) has facilitated new $7 million contract farming agreements between agro-processing firms and two modern agricultural communities in Kampong Thom province to strengthen Rice Production in the country. Covering around 6,000 hectares of paddy cultivation, the contracts make sure that stable markets and pre-agreed prices for farmers. MAFF has now completed market linkages for all modern rice-growing communities this season and supported about 2,000 farming families with low-interest loans. The initiative is part of Cambodia’s push to modernise agriculture, decrease farmers’ income risks, and ensure reliable crop supplies while limiting dependence on middlemen.
