The Drone Didi Scheme: Women’s Growing Role in Agriculture Through Technology

The Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Shri. Anandiben Patel praised the Drone Didi scheme at a university convocation, highlighting women’s growing role in agriculture through technology. The initiative launched by the Modi government empowers women-led groups by providing drone technology for agricultural services. The Drone Didi Scheme have helped women get a role in the agriculture sector. Some of the women among trained drone pilots are going from village to village and spreading awareness about the benefits of using drones for spraying pesticides and fertilisers on their fields. They are seeking it as a way to improve their economic conditions.

Vikasit Krishi Abhiyan from October 3 to 18

During her interaction with the masses, the Governor of Uttar Pradesh also introduced the Vikasit Krishi Abhiyan from October 3 to 18, aimed at increasing awareness of various government schemes. Past experiences from the interaction with ‘Didis’ empowered under the Drone Didi Scheme highlight that the centre’s initiative has opened a path for women to work and earn in fields using modern technology.
