Custom milling is the process of keeping the rice equivalent to the prescribed rate in exchange for milling by rice millers and returning the remaining to Markfed. However, a news from Katihar district of Bihar is surfacing widely where the administration has come into action mode and taken strict actions as the millers are not supplying the Custom Milled Rice (CMR) on time. The news came into report when, during the inspection it came into notice that custom milled rice is ready in all the mills. Though, the mill operators were instructed by officials to ensure the supply of custom milled rice as per its quality and standards.
A strict warning has been issued to the millers who are delaying the supply of custom milled rice. Millers failing to complete the supply of milled rice within 48 hours will have to undergo a strict legal action. The district administration will ensure timely and quality supply, any negligence will not be tolerated.
Most of the millers are not milling more than the capacity of their mills, the target of custom milled rice is also not being met. As per the notice issued by the District Magistrate in the meeting millers have been warned to not take advance paddy in exchange for advance rice as it is against the rules. Millers, after this meeting said that they will complete the supply of the remaining custom milled rice between 12 and 13 June.
