India’s Smartphone Exports Rise Sharply in October Despite US Tariffs Pressure

According to the government data, India’s smartphone exports to the US rose sharply in October, climbing to USD 1.47 billion-more than three times the amount exported in October last year, despite the adversity of US tariffs. Notably, the exports were at USD 0.46 billion in October last year.

Smartphone exports to US increased to USD 10.78 billion during April-October this fiscal year

Interestingly, Smartphone exports to the United States increased to USD 10.78 billion during April-October this fiscal year from USD 3.60 billion in the year-ago period. The shipments witnessed a decline on a monthly basis; however, they have recovered. According to the data, USD 1.65 billion was raised in April and USD 2.29 billion in May. However, smartphone exports dropped to USD 1.99 billion in June, USD 1.52 billion in July, USD 0.96 billion in August and USD 0.88 billion in September. As per an official, the export growth stayed strong even though US tariffs created uncertainty and could have affected demand and prices.

The global market displayed strong double-digit growth, led by solid gains such as 66.54 per cent to USD 2.96 billion in May, 66.61 per cent to USD 2.68 billion in June and 82.27 per cent to USD 1.68 billion in September. It indicates India’s growing integration into global supply chains. This growth has been observed despite US tariffs pressures, signals India’s strategic advantages, scale efficiencies, improved production-linked incentives, and maintained investment from global smartphone majors.
