In a recurrent series of action against the use of fake fertilizers, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has now written a letter to states and urged them to take strict actions on the use of fake fertilisers. The news of writing a letter to the states and union territories comes at a time when several news has already published about the raid in Chittorgarh District of Rajasthan, where 319 bags have been seized
Objective of Curbing the Sell of Fake Fertilizers
In the letter by the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh stated that Agriculture is the backbone of Indian economy, but with the use of fake fertilizers agriculture yields will not be the same as they should be. Minister in his letter also highlighted that the sale of counterfeit or substandard fertilizers is prohibited under the Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985, which falls under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
Orders to Stop Forced Tagging
The letter issued to states and union territories also instructed states to stop Forced tagging of nano-fertilizers or bio-stimulant products along with conventional fertilizers with an immediate effect.
