Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his latest report said that India’s agriculture tops global growth charts at 3.7 % in Q1 of 2025-26. This growth rate is the highest globally achieved rate as of now. The union agriculture minister further asserted that the government would continue to support farmers and will priorities the welfare of farmers. Praising farmers on the occasion he said that the hard work of farmers and scientists and the initiatives by the governments such as Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan to address the concern of farmers and help them know about the new farming techniques are some of the major initiatives of government that has helped farmers. Shivraj Singh Chouhan further announced that Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan will be conducted again in October with joint cooperation from central and state governments. Further government has also launched a dedicated portal for farmers to register their complaints.

Union Minister said that the sector’s performance marks a significant growth from the 1.5 per cent growth registered in the corresponding period last year. While speaking at the inaugural session of a two-day national conference focused on planning strategies for the upcoming rabi (winter) sowing season, he also stressed on the government’s zero tolerance policy towards spurious agricultural inputs, that hinder the growth of farm sector. Notably, the government has banned several chemical companies over the allegations of manufacturing low-quality pesticides.
The Union Minister Urged Farmers to opt for Crop Insurance
Speaking on the occasion Shivraj Singh Chouhan also urged farmers to opt for the crop insurance scheme called the pradhan mantri fasal bima yojana which provides relief to farmers from the crops affected due to natural disasters. Farmers from different states that check their states name from the beneficiary list of the states included in the pradhan mantri fasal bima yojana as government is regularly persuading the non-implementing States to participate in the scheme. States and Union Territories like Bihar, Telangana, Nagaland, Mizoram and Ladakh can re-join this scheme from the next Rabi season.

The conference extensively discussed preparations and production targets for the Rabi sowing season strategies for 2025-26. The union minister stressed on extending maximum possible support to farmers by central and state governments.
