Growing international demand for rapeseed meal, especially from China, led to an increase in Rapeseed meal exports. Not only this, it has boosted India’s oilmeal exports in the first seven months of the current financial year 2025-26. According to the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA), India exported a total of 2.464 million tons of oilmeal during April-October 2025-26, an increase of 3.18% compared to 2.388 million tons in the same period last year.
Surge in Rapeseed Meal Exports as China Purchases 5.81 Lakh Tonnes
SEA Executive Director B.V. Mehta stated that strong demand from China has led to a significant increase in rapeseed meal exports. The aggregate rapeseed meal exports during this period rose to 1.252 million tons, compared to 1.176 million tons the last year. The biggest change was seen in exports to China. India exported 5.81 lakh tonnes of rapeseed meal to China during April-October 2025-26, compared to just 14,886 tonnes in the same period last year, an increase of over 3900%. Some Indian companies have also recently applied for export approval to GACC (China) through the Export Inspection Council of India (EIC). Currently, the price of Indian rapeseed meal is $217/tonne, which is competitive compared to $244/tonne in Hamburg (Germany).
De-oiled rice bran exports resume
The government lifted the ban on the export of de-oiled rice bran from October 3, 2025, allowing the continuation of exports of this product. In October, India shipped around 14,589 tonnes of rice bran extract to Vietnam and Nepal.
Rise in Groundnut meal exports Increased peanut production over the past two years has led to increased crushing, which has also boosted groundnut meal exports. India exported 19,300 tons of groundnut meal during April-October 2025-26, compared to only 7,823 tons the previous year.
