PM Modi to Roll Out Two Schemes for Farmers’ Welfare on Saturday, says Agri Minister Chouhan

On Thursday, October 9, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that PM Modi will roll out two new schemes for farmers’ welfare, first one is Prime Minister Dhan-Dhanya Yojana and second one, Pulses Self-Reliant Mission further citing that Union government is working on six areas to enhance the condition of farmers of the country and adding the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department is trying to ensure food security for every household in the country under the leadership of PM Modi.

46% of the country’s population relies on agriculture

The Union Minister stated that 46% of the country’s population relies on agriculture for their livelihood, and the Centre is working on these areas to enhance their condition, and those include increasing production, decreasing the cost of production, receiving a fair price for the produce, compensation for loss, expanding agriculture and stressing on natural farming.

Prime Minister Dhan-Dhanya Yojana & Pulses Self-Reliant Mission: Launch on Oct 11

The Minister further said that two schemes will be launched for the farmers: Prime Minister Dhan-Dhanya Yojana and Pulses Self-Reliant Mission. He mentioned that the Centre, with the help of these schemes, will focus on improving crop productivity, expanding irrigation facilities and work to increase the availability of long- and short-term loans. Besides this, he noted that NITI Aayog will monitor it using its dashboard and will try to improve productivity by converging not just one but 36 schemes of 11 departments.
