Prime Minister laid the foundation stones for livestock and dairy projects worth Rs 1166 crore, alongside launching the PM-DDKY which are: PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses. Under the newly inaugurated, PM-DDKY local-level campaigns on animal health will be rolled out which will build over 125 crore free vaccines already administered to livestock. The announcements for the livestock and dairy projects were made at an event in New Delhi along with the launch of two major schemes the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses.
Addressing the gathering at the event, PM Modi said that these initiatives are part of a broader strategy to strengthen India’s agri-allied ecosystem and empower small and landless farmers. PM Modi further said that over 125 vaccines have been administered free of cost to protect animals from diseases like Foot and Mouth Disease. Healthy animals mean reduced worries for farmers, the Prime Minister added. He further announced that local-level campaigns on animal health will soon be launched under the scheme.
Livestock and Dairy Projects with a Budget of Rs 1,166 Crore & First Livestock IVF Lab
The first Livestock IVF Lab in the Northeast was inaugurated in Guwahati, Assam, to boost dairy development and breed improvement. Other major dairy infrastructure projects were also inaugurated under the National Programme for Dairy Development, including plants in Mehsana, Indore, Bhilwara, and Telangana. The foundation stone was also laid for an Integrated Dairy and 200 TPD Cattle Feed Plant in Andhra Pradesh.
Ten projects under the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund worth Rs 303.81 crore were inaugurated, while 2000 newly trained MAITRIs from Uttar Pradesh were certified, joining over 38,000 technicians nationwide to strengthen livestock breeding services.
