PM-Kisan Scheme: 22nd Instalment of ₹2,000 to Be Released on March 13 for 9 Crore Farmers

Farmers are the backbone of any nation. Not only this, but the government also introduces various schemes and initiatives continuously to support and uplift the state of farmers. Amid all this, the central government has announced the release date for the 22^nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, under which eligible farmers receive Rs 2,000 directly in their bank accounts. According to an update on the official PM-Kisan Portal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the next instalment on March 13, 2026, during his visit to Guwahati, Assam. The Government is expected to transfer Rs 2,000 each to over 9 crore farmer beneficiaries across the country under the scheme. Nevertheless, the latest data illustrates that over 1.12 crores names have been removed from the beneficiary list in recent years after verification and identification of suspected ineligible cases.

Nearly 1.13 crore beneficiaries removed under the PM- Kisan Scheme

The government data signals that the number of beneficiaries under the schemes has decreased significantly over the past couple of instalments. 11^th instalment in April – July 2022: 10,48,45, 164 farmers received Rs 2,000 and 21^st instalment in Aug-Nov 2025: 9,35,79,869 farmers received Rs 2,000. It indicates that nearly 1.12 crore names have been excluded from the PM-Kisan beneficiary database.

According to the note displayed on the PM-Kisan portal, authorities have recognised suspected cases that may fall under the exclusion criteria mentioned in the scheme guidelines.

Before this, ₹20,500 crore was transferred to the accounts of 97 million farmers in the 20th instalment of the scheme, and ₹22,000 was transferred to the accounts of 98 million farmers in the 19th instalment in February 2025. Notably, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was launched in February 2019. Under this scheme, the government provides an annual amount of ₹6,000 for farmer welfare in three instalments of ₹2,000 each. Instalments are typically released in March, June, July, and October. This scheme has significantly benefited both minor and major farmers across the country.

Moreover, KYC verification is mandatory for farmers to apply for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Instalments may be delayed without KYC verification. Additionally, it's now mandatory to create a Farmer ID along with e-KYC.

The annual amount of ₹6,000 has helped farmers to meet their needs. Farmers have been waiting for the 22nd instalment of this scheme for several days, but their wait will now end on March 13th, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 22nd instalment of PM-KISAN from Guwahati, Assam.
