Addressing the National One District One Product (ODOP) 2024 Award ceremony in New Delhi, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, said on Monday that the government will soon issue new guidelines to promote new markets, new products and first-time exporters. Not only this, but he also said that the Commerce Ministry and the districts would jointly promote the products under ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) in new markets and support first-time exporters.
Furthermore, he underscored that 773 districts of the country are contributing to this success story. He said: ‘When there is uncertainty in the world, India is like a green oasis and today it is the fastest growing large economy.’ Highlighting India’s economic growth, he asserted that India will become the third-largest economy in the world by 2027. He also applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership that has transformed India into a modern powerhouse of Infrastructure, Industry and Innovation.
Besides that, the Union Minister, citing examples, said that products such as coffee from Wayanad, Ratnagiri’s mangoes and saffron from Pulwama can give India global recognition. He cited that ODOP is a unique initiative, which no other country has an example of a local turned global. Every district brings its unique heritage and products. In addition, the minister said that two products in a district get recognition under ODOP. Out of a total of 87 products, 64 come under the Industrial Investment Promotion Policy. All 38 districts of Bihar have fully included their products under ODOP and have given it significant importance. Applauding the state, Bihar has been placed in category A in this context. The minister further appealed to everyone to make the products of their district a force of prosperity through ODOP. He asked everyone to commit to making ODOP a driving force of prosperity in their districts with the help of their products. Moreover, he encouraged all stakeholders to take their ODOP globally.
Apart from Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Shri Jitin Prasada also attended the awards ceremony, which was held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The winners of the National ODOP Awards 2024 were felicitated and acknowledged by the dignitaries for their contributions to innovation, public service delivery, and economic development.
