More sowing of summer crop has been reported last month. The government keeps people aware about the sowing of crops by releasing the figures regarding the sowing of crops. In a recent report by The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare there has been a significant increase in the sowing of summer crops till 30th of last month. This year, sowing has been done in 84 lakh hectares, which is 9.21 lakh hectares more than last year.
The ministry further stated that the area under rice production has increased by 4.80 lakh hectares to about 36 lakh hectares, whereas a significant rise has also been reported in pulses by 2.77 lakh hectares to about 24 lakh hectares. Apart from this, sowing of cereals, coarse grains, and oil seeds has also increased in which maize and ground nut crops are prominent.
It is worth noting that the government recently has presented the estimated figures of grain production in the year 2024-25, according to which 35.39 crore tonnes of grain can be produced. Further, the government has estimated the wheat production to be 11.75 crore tonnes. Recently, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan released the third advance estimate of the crop year.
