Before the commencement of Monsoon Session of Parliament 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media and said that this monsoon has turned out to be a boon for farmers. He told the media that the monsoon this year has not only been balanced and satisfactory in terms of weather, but it has also brought new energy to agriculture, rural and national economy.
He said: “The weather is progressing well in the country. Beneficial weather has been reported for agriculture. Rain plays a crucial role as it affects the farmers, rural economy and the country also including every family. Revealing the data shared with him, he highlighted that the water reserves that have been made in the last 10 years have almost tripled this time, which will also greatly benefit the country’s economy in the upcoming days.”
PM Highlights Surge in Water Storage, Boost for Agricultural and Economy
The Prime Minister stated that “this time water storage has risen almost thrice compared to the last 10 years.” He emphasised that this rise will not only bring revolutionary changes for agricultural production but also in areas such as industrial development, availability of drinking water and hydropower. Timely Sowing of Kharif crops in major areas, which has increased the possibility of a boost in crop production and an increment in farmers’ income. He added that it will influence the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the upcoming months.
Monsoon-linked Household and Economic Success While discussing the significance of Monsoon and agriculture, the Prime Minister highlighted that rain is not limited to the fields, but its impact reaches every kitchen, every job, every consumer and the economic condition of every family. He asserted that India was in the Fragile-5 category in 2014, but now it is on the doorstep of becoming the third-largest economy in the world. He said that in the last decade, 25 crore people have risen out of poverty, and the inflation rate has dropped around 2%.
In the Monsoon Session of Parliament 2025, the Prime Minister asserted the hoisting of the Indian flag for the first time on the International Space Station as a “proud moment for every citizen of the country”. In addition, applauding the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’, he said that the Indian Army has demonstrated its military might to the world by destroying the terrorist base in just 22 minutes. Moreover, calling India’s UPI system leading in the world, he said that the maximum number of real-time digital transactions is taking place in India today. Lastly, he informed that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared India trachoma-free.
