Iraq Buyers Enhanced Orthodox Tea Prices at Kochi Auctions

In the recent developments related to agriculture, Iraqi buyers have enhanced the orthodox tea prices at Kochi Auctions. Since the demand from them, particularly for lower-level orthodox leaf varieties, has boosted the tea prices. Notably, the average price realization observed an increase by 4 in sales in 41. Traders said that now, the credit goes to the increased purchases by Iraq buyers, which is maintaining the Market. Not only this, but the availability of quality teas in the auction platform has also improved the demand from overseas buyers. It was visible from the 93% sales out of the offered quantity of 2,23 094kg. Exporters to CIS and Middle East countries were active, and there was some upcountry enquiry. In addition, the market for whole leaf was not regular, and lower-end teas (the cheaper ones) saw the biggest price appreciation.

CTC leaf Tea prices vary

In the CTC leaf, good broken leaves were expensive, while medium broken leaves and Fannings were slightly more expensive. The quantity offered was 36,500 kg. In CTC dust, high quality teas have observed a strong demand with teas up to ₹172, that was slightly more expensive. The offered quantity was 5,16,196 kg with a sales 92 percentage. Apparently, all blenders together absorbed 63 per cent of the total CTC quantity sold. In orthodox dust, the market for clean black primary grades was expensive. The quantity offered was 4,500 kg. Buyers from other regions were actively purchasing.
