29 May every year is celebrated as International Day of UN Peacekeepers to honour and remember the dedication and sacrifice of those who play a vital role in maintaining and promoting peace in some of the world’s most challenging environments. In this context, Global trade and Technology Council of India organized a program at Radisson Blu Marina Hotel, Connaught Place, Delhi. The theme for International Day of UN Peacekeepers 2025 is future of peacekeeping.
Officials from several embassies based in India, foreign delegates, intellectuals, and Former Delhi Police Commissioner and former BSF DG Rakesh Asthana also participated in the program and shared their views. Team of IREF along with the National Vice President of Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF), PK Swain also participated in this program. Meaningful discussion was held on the theme of International Day of Peacekeepers 2025 and intellectuals participating in the program expressed their views.
For the unversed, the first UN peacekeeping operation was established in 1948 and currently has more than 68,000 civilian, military and police personnel deployed across 11 missions in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, as well as headquarters in New York.
