In a shocking report declared by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ram Nath Thakur said that Inter-state Trade on e-NAM Platform has suffered a massive decline by 78% in 2024-25. The union minister in his speech at the monsoon session of the parliament said that in comparison to 18,005 tonnes of inter-state trade in 2023-24 only 3,935 tonnes of trade took place in 2024-25. The union minister further informed about the trade done so far in 2025-26, (till June 30) which is only 472.62 tonnes.
Reason for Decline in Inter-state Trade on e-NAM Platform
The main reason behind this huge difference is the limited relaxation of trading licenses by the states. Lack of logistics is also among one of the main reasons behind this massive decline. To overcome this govt. is all set to launch e-NAM 2.0, with upgrades like grading and logistics services to make trading smoother and more appealing for both farmers and traders.
