India’s Agri Export Crosses $51.9 billion, Efforts on to Touch New Heights

India has already established itself as the highest producer and exporter of several agricultural and processed food products. Union Minister of State for Agriculture Ram Nath Thakur on Tuesday, backed this claim by presenting the exact figure of the country’s total export of agricultural and allied products in the Lok Sabha which has crossed US $51.9 billion in the financial year 2024-25.

The Union Minister of State for Agriculture Ram Nath Thakur further said that the govt. is aiming to boost not only traditional products but also on increasing the export of high-quality and value-added agri products. Govt. is implementing agri-friendly schemes at many levels, which aims at improving modern infrastructure, advanced technology, innovation-based production and market access.

APEDA and its Efforts are Game Changer for Indian Agricultural Exports

The Union Minister applauded the role of APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) and its contribution behind the success. APEDA implemented several schemes to make farmers and exporters competitive at the global level. The Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) run by APEDA is helping exporters in three major areas that include:

  • Development of export infrastructure
  • Improving quality and certification standards
  • Increasing the reach of products in new markets

New Updates on Exports

Recent India-UK FTA will benefit Indian farmers and exporters in starting exports of many products and increasing exports. India UK Free Trade Agreement has not only opened the door for exporters but also for Indian farmers especially in prominent Basmati producing states like Punjab, Haryana, & Uttarakhand. India is also focusing on trade deals with several other countries to promote exports.
