Indian Delegates Visit Cambodia to Boost Cashew & Other Food Processing Sectors

India’s agriculture and processed food authority is on a visit to Cambodia to boost trade in cashew and other food processing sectors. The main aim of the trade visit is on importing cashew nuts from Cambodia and building processing facilities, as well as rice rice processing and exporting buffalo meat to Cambodia.

Visit by Indian delegation to Cambodia is led by officials from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the All-India Cashew Association (AIC). The visit to Cambodia is aimed at strengthening cooperation in the cashew sector. The Indian delegation, led by Bola Rahul Kamath, president, and M. Ramakrishnan, Secretary of AICA, held discussions with H.E. Touch Bun Hour, Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

Aim to Boost Cashew Trade Ties

The three-day visit by facilitated by the Embassy of India in Phnom Penh and was aimed to strengthen trade ties by focusing on cashew sourcing, value-added rice processing, and buffalo meat exports to Cambodia. Delegates from both sides shared insights on respective strengths in the agriculture sectors as well as their priorities. The two sides, apart from cashew, also agreed on working together for the buffalo meat exports and to collaborate for processing in the rice sector.  

Meeting with Cambodia Rice Federation & Other Associations

Indian delegates held an interaction with Cambodian businesses from several associations including Cambodia Rice Federation, Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia, Cambodia Cashew Federation, and Cambodia Livestock Raiser Association. The visit gave businesses from both sides a chance to discuss potential tie-ups and deal.
