Though everyone knows agriculture has been the major roadblock in trade talks between India and the US, however what many may not use is that despite the US Tariff threats the agri sector between the two countries is growing at a very rapid pace. And likely it can hit a new record this year.
Stats Depict Rise in Agri Trade Despite US Tariff
As per the statistics from January to June 2025, India imported agricultural products from US having the total worth of $1,693.2 million, which is approximately 49.1% more than what it bought during the same period in 2024 ($1,135.8 million). Surprisingly India’s agricultural exports to the US also rose by 24.1%, from $2,798.9 million in early 2024 to $3,472.7 million in early 2025.
The stats obtained from credible sources are no less than surprise for almost everyone. The agri sector between the two countries are booming. Though the full impact is yet awaited after Trump’s decision to impose 50% tariff on Indian goods early signs, no doubt show that agri trade between the two countries will remain unaffected and may register new record under its belt. If the current growth continues, India’s farm exports to the US could cross $7.7 billion this year. On the other hand, the US could export over $3.5 billion worth of agricultural goods to India in 2025, reported a media source.
