Now, this standard is significant for harmonising quality specifications for this globally traded commodity.

India contributed to discussions on Codex efficiency

India, as a Member of Asia, contributed to discussions on Codex efficiency and future challenges. Particularly, India focused on the need to update and develop databases on food initiatives, pesticide residues, veterinary drugs, analysis methods and food contaminants. Moreover, India supported the use of modern technologies such as AI to enhance the efficiency of codex operations regarding document translation. Underscoring the necessity to consider regional data when developing standards, the Indian delegation was active in defending national and regional interests.
