India, Russia Discuss BRICS Grain Exchange Plan To Strengthen Agriculture Trade Ties

On Thursday, September 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian Deputy Prime Minister for agriculture Dmitry Patrushev in New Delhi and discussed the BRICS Grain Exchange Plan to strengthen the agriculture trade ties. Furthermore, PM Modi extended his greetings to President Vladimir Putin and said that he looked forward to welcoming him to the 23rd India-Russia annual summit to be hosted here later this year.

What did PM Modi discuss regarding BRICS Grain Exchange Plan and agriculture trade?

PM Modi said that Happy to meet Russia’s Deputy Minister for Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, at the World Food India 2025. We discussed passages to boost our win-win cooperation in agriculture, fertilizers, and food processing”.
In addition, according to the statement given by the Ministry of External Affairs, the Prime Minister conveyed his warm greetings to President Putin and stated he looked forward to welcoming him to India for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.

Free Trade Agreement between India and the Eurasian Economic Union

The Russian embassy said both delegates discussed the ongoing work on a Free Trade Agreement between India and the Eurasian Economic Union. Moreover, the topic of creating a BRICS Grain Exchange was raised, a move that will help in strengthening mutual agricultural trade.
On a related note, Mr.Patrushev said that Russia highly values its special and privileged partnership with India. India is one of Russia’s key allies in the International arena. Every year, Russian-Indian economic cooperation reaches a historic high. Besides this, the Russian Embassy said that the two sides would continue constructive dialogue on all issues of sectoral cooperation.
