About Henley Passport Index
It is a famous ranking for Global Passports, which ranks countries according to the statistical data provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Not only this, but it also evaluates passports’ intensity using the number of destinations accessible to passport holders without a prior visa.
As per latest data, Singapore’s passport holds the top spot in the world, granting visa-free access to 193 of 227 destinations. Asian countries lead the table with Japan and South Korea in second position, each granting visa-free entry to 190 destinations whereas seven European Union naming Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain, secure third place, allowing access to 189 destinations. On the contrary, Passports from Powerful nations such as the U.S. and U.K. have witnessed a decline in their ranking. The U.S. passport has fallen to tenth place from ninth last year, with access to 182 destinations, whereas the U.K. has dropped from fifth to sixth position, with visa-free access to 186 destinations.
Notably, the Indian passport has risen to eight spots from 85th to 77th, despite only adding two locations to its list of visa-free countries, after dropping five spots in 2024. There are 59 visa-free countries accessible to India. The two countries that have been added to the list of visa-free destinations are Philippines and Sri Lanka.
Currently, Indian passport holders have visa-on-arrival or without visa access to 59 destinations
