IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Rain in Several Districts Today

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in several districts today. While the yellow alert was issued for places across Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts. The similar alert related to monsoon rains in the southern districts of Rajasthan were also issued. The monsoon alert bringing light to moderate showers in Udaipur, Rajsamand, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, and Jhalawar were issued by the IMD. According to the Meteorological Department, Udaipur district recorded the highest rainfall of about two inches.

Continuous Rains in Udaipur

In the past 24 hours, Udaipur recorded the highest rainfall of 46 mm at Dabok Airport. The continuous rains is creating the same havoc as in the case of Punjab floods and Uttarakhand Mayhem. On Sunday, similar rainfall was recorded from other districts such as: Dalot in Pratapgarh received 12 mm, Lasadiya near Salumber recorded 6 mm, and Pachpahar in Jhalawar registered 7 mm. Light rainfall was reported in parts of Rajsamand and Dungarpur.

Yellow Alert for Rain in 20 Districts of Bihar

While the nation is mourning for the losses caused due to floods in Punjab, J&K, and in other states, IMD now has issued yellow alert for 20 districts in Bihar. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong windfall in expected in the districts of Bihar. However, bringing a sigh of relief for the government, who has been continuously observing flood situations at different places, despite the alert no rainfall has been recorded in the past 24 hours across Bihar, including Patna. According to the Meteorological Centre, a cyclonic circulation is currently active over Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar, leading to the formation of a north–south trough. 

What is Yellow Alert?

A yellow alert is issued by the Indian Meteorological Department which suggests the possibility of moderate rainfall. While not severe, it might cause localised flooding in low-lying areas or disrupt outdoor activities.
