On Friday, July 18, Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Shyam Singh Rana, chaired a meeting with officers at the officers’ department in Chandigarh. The meeting focused on instructing officers to clear the dues of Sugarcane farmers and settle the accounts of cultivators. He discussed the outstanding payments to sugarcane growers connected to the Naraingarh sugar factory with officials.
While holding the meeting with Officers in Chandigarh, he instructed that the operations of the sugarcane mill should continue smoothly and efficiently. He also directed the officials to ensure that farmers get their payments on time.
Highlighting these instructions, Rana said: “The government is fully committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers and ensuring their financial stability.”
Followed by the meeting at the officers’ department, Rana informed the reporters that the state government remains fully committed to protecting farmers’ interests. The government emphasises reducing the cost of farming as well as continuously increasing crop yields. Not only this, he also highlighted several steps to be taken to modernise the Agricultural sector. These steps include encouraging farmers to conduct laboratory testing of soil before sowing crops to ensure the soil fertility of the crops. High-quality seeds are being made accessible to the farmers. Efforts are going on to raise awareness among farmers. Moreover, Efforts are being made to reduce the farmers’ dependency on chemical fertilizers. In addition, Rana also stated that farmers are being urged to switch to modern practices. Furthermore, he asked the farmers to diversify farming practices instead of relying on conventional methods. Lastly, he said that to increase the farmers’ income, subsidies are being given to those who start ventures in fish farming and animal husbandry and several other agricultural sectors. Rana reaffirmed that these initiatives collaborate with the state’s long-term agricultural goal, creating a self-reliant, modern, and farmer-friendly ecosystem across Haryana.
