“Govt to focus Green Fuel Farm Equipment, Enhance Access for Small Farmers” says Agriculture Secretary

Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi stated on Thursday, Nov 27  that the Government will focus green fuel-based farm machinery and improve access to mechanization for small and marginal farmers as part of India’s vision to become a global food basket by 2047.

In the 9 th editon of EIMA Agrimach event ogranised by FCCI here, Chaturvedi further said mechanization is significant for achieving the four significant objectives farmers’ income, decreasing farming costs, enhancing productivity, improving price realization through value addition and creating the climate resilience.

Government Schemes To Focus On Green Fuel-Based Technologies

Moreover, he said that agriculture secretary stated that this transition will bring down both maintenance and operationals costs for farmers, and govt schemes will focus green fuel-based technologies. Furthermore, he called upon Italian industry counterparts to collaborate in this area, citing it is need of hour.

Agriculture represents nearly 16 per cent of GDP in India

In addition, Italian Ambassador Antonio Bartoli stated agriculture represents nearly 16 percent of GSP in India and 15 per cent in Italy in the agri-food value chain, and stressed the sector’s role in the bilateral relationship. He added that India’s machinery market is anticipated to double to around USD 20 Billion by 2023. Italy has the technologies for agriculture 4.0 and India has the market.

PM Modi and Italian PM Meloni set a goal of reaching EUR 20 billion

Bartoli mentioned that PM Narendra Modi and Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni, who met on the sidelines of the G20 in Rome three days ago, have set a goal of reaching EUR 20 billion in bilateral trade volume by the end of the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029.
