Govt. Launches Kapas Kisan App: A Game-Changer For Cotton Farmers

On Tuesday, September 3, Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh launched the Kapas Kisan app, a new mobile application created by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) to ease seamless procurement of cotton from farmers under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme.
The ministry stated that the new mobile app gives farmers features comprising self-registration, slot booking and payment tracking. Not only this, but the app also offers the facility of payment tracking by farmers, bringing greater transparency, convenience and increasing the speed of the cotton procurement process.

What does the minister say about the Kapas Kisan app ?

Minister Giriraj Singh said that this farmer-first mobile app highlighted a major step in improving the ease of selling cotton by our cotton farmers. Further, he added: "By digitising key steps, right from registration to payment tracking, we are ensuring timely, transparent and fair MSP operations. It reinforces our commitment to protect farmers from any distress sales and to escalate the vision of Digital India,”.

In addition, the minister also highlighted that the app will help in protecting cotton farmers against any distress sales via assured MSP procurement, decrease manual paperwork and save time at procurement centres. It will also improve transparency and enhance planning by permitting farmers to choose convenient time slots. The significant features of the app include that the cotton farmers can securely register themselves for selling cotton under MSP, digital scheduling at designated procurement centres to decrease waiting time and crowd, real-time status updates on quality assessment, accepted quantities, payment processing and a user-friendly interface supporting numerous Indian languages.
