With the water being released again from the dams into the rivers, the danger of flood in Punjab looms again creating a chaos and havoc among the people of Punjab. The Bhakra Beas Management Board has decided to open the flood gates of the Bhakra Dam once again in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall in Himachal in the coming days. Followed by this the flood gates were opened from three feet to four feet.
As per the reports over 2185 villages and 388466 people in 22 districts have been affected by the floods in Punjab. The death toll has risen to 53 with one more death in Ferozepur in the last 24 hours. Despite this 3 people are still missing in Pathankot, after reports of 23297 people been rescued from the flood-affected areas. Heavy rainfall and flood have left 4533 people stay in relief camps aways from home. Notably, the Punjab Govt. has arranged for 115 relief camps in Punjab. The Punjab floods have also affected the crops with 55 hectares of cultivable land already been affected by the floods in the state.
Tarn Taran, Ferozepur And Fazilka Districts Still on Red Alert
In what can be called as a sigh of relief for the people of Punjab, the weather department has predicted clear weather for two days after a day of rain in some districts. However, the weather department also predicted rain in many districts of the state from September 15 warning people to remain cautious. Breaking of embankments feared at almost 14 places in Ludhiana due to the water of Sutlej., with the administration trying to strengthen them constantly. Owing to this, water levels at Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Fazilka districts is expected to rise leading to more destruction.
