Flood affected farmers in Haryana are likely to receive compensation for crops damaged by rain and flooding by November 30. According to the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, so far damage to crops on approximately 11 lakh acres has been assessed, with Fatehabad district marked as the worst affected. Preliminary estimates of compensation of approximately 50-60 crore rupees have already been made in Fatehabad, whereas the total compensation amount which is expected to be between 600 and 800 crore rupees will be paid upon complete verification. The complete assessment report will be sent to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in a few days.
529,200 farmers Submitted Details of Crop Damage on the Portal
A total of 529,200 farmers from 6,395 villages in Haryana have submitted their details of crop damage due to flood on the portal. In terms of area farmers have claimed damage to a total area of 3.1 million acres (3,100,242.60 acres). The damage assessment in Fatehabad has also been cross-checked to determine the actual damage. Officials have also assessed significant damage in Sirsa, Kaithal, Ambala, as well as in Rohtak’s Meham and villages along the Fatehabad border in Hisar.
Compensation on the Basis of Four Slabs
Flood affected farmers will receive compensation on the basis of four slabs which are 0-25%, 26-50%, 51-75% and 76-100%. Department has been advised to complete the work rapidly so that the final report can be sent to the government.
