The Odisha Government has mandated the e-KYC process for ration card holders. Notably, in its latest move on distribution of rice to ration card holders the Odisha government clarified that rice will not be distributed to those without e-KYC process. State Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krishna Chandra Patra, said that ration card holders will not receive rice in case they have not completed their e-KYC process.
In this context, State Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krishna Chandra Patra stated that the decision was made after the central government abruptly or halted the e-KYC process. As per the data received, there are approximately 15.67 lakh beneficiaries in the state who have not yet completed their e-KYC. Though these beneficiaries are currently receiving rice, distribution of rice for ration card holders without e-KYC will be halted. The minister further stated that if the central government extends the e-KYC deadline, the state government will follow the same. Krishna Chandra Patra further said that beneficiaries whose names have been omitted can submit written applications for reconsideration.
