State Govt. of Chhattisgarh declared a notification stating that the state govt. will promote Palm Oil Cultivation, to boost the income of farmers. The state govt. will now give subsidy in addition to the existing scheme of the central govt. The scheme will benefit cultivators of oil palm.
What will Palm Oil Cultivators Get?
Subsidy on plantation of palm oil, a subsidy of ₹29,000 will be given for 143 oil palm plants per hectare. There is a huge demand for edible oils in the country, which is met through imports. The Government of India has launched the “National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm” to increase oilseed production.
Assistance by Govt. on Irrigation Facilities
Borewell (if cultivated in 2 hectares):
1. ₹50,000 for borewell
2. ₹25,000 per hectare additional subsidy
Pumpset: ₹27,000 from centre + ₹16,500 per hectare from state
Other assistance
Fencing:
₹1,08,970 per hectare for fencing with cement poles and channel link wire.
Drip irrigation system:
1. ₹14,130 from Central Government
2. ₹6,636 additional top-up from State Government
This move by Chhattisgarh govt. will reduce the state’s dependence on imports and provide farmers with a permanent and profitable source of income.
