IREF (Indian Rice Exporters Federation) has finally brought a sigh of relief for exporters dissatisfied over RoDTEP. Government restored benefits of duty and tax rebate scheme after a round of continuous efforts by IREF. IREF Chairman wrote a letter to custom, and ministry followed by a letter by APEDA after a respectful request from IREF ON 10TH May 2025.
In his recent interview, DR. Prem Garg, National President of IREF stated that restoration of RoDTEP scheme was our main concern as exporters had to bear the loss of approx. $9 on Basmati rice whereas for non-Basmati rice it was approx. $ 4. It’s crucial to note that RoDTEP was filed under custom, but however custom declined it due to HS code that further forced exporters to bear the loss.
Dr. Garg further said that DGFT issued a clarification regarding restoring benefits of duty and tax rebate scheme. He further stated that exporters can contact the team of experts at IREF in case of any confusion regarding this scheme.
