Bangladesh has issued another tender bid to purchase 50,000 metric tons of rice to curb domestic rice prices. The rice procurement tender has been released by Bangladesh’s state grains buyer. Countries who are interested in rice trade with Bangladesh must submit their offer price till December 1. Notably, Bangladesh’s government has issued a series of tender bid in recent months to improve local supplies. Domestic rice prices in Bangladesh have risen about 15% over the past year despite a good harvest, leaving consumers struggling.
Further, Bangladesh has also issued a separate tender seeking rice import of 50,000 tons with price offers to be submitted on November 20 following two previous tenders in November. The new rice supply tender again seeks price offers for non-basmati parboiled rice in CIF liner out terms, which involve ship unloading costs for the seller. Price offers in the tender must remain valid until December 15. Shipment is sought to the ports of Chittagong and Mongla 40 days after contract award. The rice can come from global rice market except Israel and rice supply is required 40 days after contract award.
