Apple Trade in Himachal Sees 43% Surge Despite Disasters, 2.6 Crore Boxes Traded By Oct 3

Apple Trade in Himachal Pradesh witnesses a 43% rise, despite natural disasters such as landslides and land closures. According to the Himachal Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board (MPMC), a total of 26,083,458 apple boxes were traded as of October 3 this year, compared to 18,263,874 in 2024.

Furthermore, the state government spokesperson said that this year of 2025, will mark a golden chapter in Himachal’s horticulture history. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s farmer-centric policies and transparent administrative approach have set an example of systemic change in the horticulture sector.

Himachal Apples
were in high demand at Delhi’s Azadpur Mandi. A grade Royal Delicious was sold for Rs.2,300 per 20 kg box, and Golden Delicious for Rs. 1,200 per box. Now, this reflects the quality, brand value, and consumer confidence in Himachal apples. A record of 83, 788 metric tons of apples were procured by the HPMC under the Mandi Mediation Scheme. Notably, this is one of the largest purchases ever, providing relief to thousands of orchardists. Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi said that the government has demonstrated promptness in road, transportation and market operations ensuring timely and fair prices for orchardisits.

The state receives it first installment

Additionally, Himachal Pradesh has received the first installment of 25 crore under the integrated Horticulture department Mission consisting of 22.50 crore from the central government and 2.50 crore from the state government.
